Presbyterian Women

We commit ourselves:

To involve every woman in a caring community that strengthens the Presbyterian Church and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church worldwide, and to work for justice and peace.

The Presbyterian Women (PW) encompass all active women at St. Andrews. There are two PW Circles (morning and evening) which encourages personal fellowship and Biblical enrichment. The Presbyterian Women excel at planning social activities making our church families feel welcomed and at home. These activities include: a new members’ reception, baby or bridal showers, special celebrations (baptisms, graduations, and scholastic support), holiday gift baskets and visitations, bereavement meals and visitations, and a strong community involvement. St. Andrews’ Presbyterian women are active at all levels within the church and provide a great amount of support to the House of our Lord and to the unity of our members.

Presbyterian Women Circles at St. Andrews are based mostly on interests and family responsibilities. The Morning Circle consists of women whose children are no longer living at home; the Friendship Circle is composed of younger women - most with young children or older children still at home.

Each circle sponsors certain projects appropriate to their interests, and each circle helps the other with some of their projects.

All work on the same mission projects each quarter. Two of these are always Presbyterian worldwide projects: the celebration of the Birthday of women’s work, and the Thank Offering. The other two projects are more locally oriented and are selected by the St. Andrews Coordinating Team. An on-going project is the support with prayer and correspondence of a missionary family in Brazil.

All work together to decorate the church at Christmas.

PW recognizes new church members annually at a Reception in the spring. At christenings, PW presents a silk rose and a scroll with a prayer for the child’s baptism. PW ensures that all St. Andrews brides and mothers-to-be are honored with a shower or a tea. The Friendship Circle honors graduating seniors with a special breakfast at the church.
